‍Gamers always have to be on the lookout for new GPUs that are affordable and also come with decent specs. A budget graphics card is something almost every gamer looks out for so as to be able to play the latest games but not spend too much at the same time. As such, if you’re reading this article, you might be wondering if the GTX 1650 is a good option for gaming. Read More

Is Gtx 1650 Good For Gaming?

The GTX 1650 is one of the few cards that can run games at 1080p with medium-high settings. If you have a 1440p monitor and a decent CPU, then you can run most games on medium to high settings. However, if you have a 4K monitor and a powerful CPU, then you may be able to run some of the latest games in 4K resolution at high or very high settings.

What To Know Before Buying A Gtx 1650?

  • The GTX 1650 is a mid-range graphics card by Nvidia. It’s a lower-end GPU compared to the RTX 2060, but it’s not really that much of an entry-level card.
  • The GTX 1650 can be found for around $150.
  • It’s a 6GB model with GDDR5 memory and a 192-bit memory interface (GDDR5X).
  • The GTX 1650 has the same number of CUDA cores as the older GTX 1050 Ti (2,048) and is clocked at 1,392MHz/1,506MHz (boost). It also has 4GB or 8GB of GDDR5 memory and 128bits/256bits bandwidths respectively. To put that in perspective, the GTX 1650 is clocked about 10% lower than the older model and has about half the memory bandwidths available. That said, it does perform on par with its predecessor in most games we’ve tested.
  • The GTX 1650 is also not a significant upgrade to the GTX 1050 Ti, which we’ve already reviewed. It’s essentially a rebadged variant of the card that got its name from the fact that it’s faster than a GTX 1050 Ti. That said, for $150 you’re getting about 1/3rd of an RTX 2060. You can get an RTX 2060 for around $300-$400 at Amazon, so if you’re shopping for an RTX 2060 and don’t care about 4K gaming, this is a great place to start.
  • At 6GB of VRAM, there are some games that will require you to use the 8GB model of the card (or higher), but we’ve found that most games don’t really require more than 4GB (unless you’re playing at ultra-ultra settings). If you don’t need more than 4GB and want to save on cost, then there are other options in the GTX 1650 lineup.
  • The GTX 1650 has a TDP of 75W, which is around the same power draw as the GTX 1050 Ti. So if you have a 250W PSU, you should be good to go (we’ve tested cards with more power and had no issues under load).
  • While it’s not ideal, the GTX 1650 can be used in SLI. This means that you can have 2 of them in a single PC if you’re running multiple monitors or doing some heavy-duty gaming on your PC. If you want to do this, then we recommend pairing two of them together and getting an 8GB GPU (as we’ve found that most games don’t require more than 4GB). We’ve also found that even with 2 cards in SLI, we’re still able to play most games at 1080p/60FPS or 1440p/60FPS on high settings with this card (though some games may require higher command that you get the 8GB model.
